Port Blair, Mar 28: The 21st conference of the World Model United Nations was held in Vancouver, Canada, in which more than 2000 students from over 65 countries attended the event. The conference was organised by the University of British Columbia in association with the Harvard Secretariat, which included various committees, workshops, and social events. Ebrahim Jadwet, who is pursuing his Bachelors of Commerce at University Canada West, represented the Republic of Guinea Bissau, as a delegate along with Felix Erasmus in the Social, Political, and Decolonization Committee (SPECPOL). The main topic discussed throughout the entire conference was the question of the recognition of Palestine as a state. During his speech as a delegate from Guinea Bissau in the committee, Ebrahim focused on the recognition of the Palestinian state, and insisted equal respect for both Palestine and Israel.
Speaking on phone from Canada, Ebrahim stated, “it was a learning point for me in life and a great platform for networking which included working in the committee with students from Harvard, Oxford, and other respected institutions across the globe. I would like to encourage more students from Andaman and Nicobar Islands to participate in such a forum”.
