Port Blair, July 14: The Indian Institute of Crafts & Design (IICD), Jaipur is offering a one year certificate programme in crafts design & techniques. The aim of the programme is to provide necessary skills, competence and understanding of design and various craft techniques. After completing the course the candidate will be able to take forward the traditional craft being practiced by them. The fee for artisans is Rs.1,82,000/- and Rs.2,67,000/- for others. The programme is scheduled to begin in August 2014.
IICD is an autonomous institute set up by the Government of Rajasthan is 1995, to develop human resource for the craft sector. IICD offers 4 years under graduate diploma programmes, 2 years post graduate diploma programmes and short term certificate programmes in different specializations from all fields to cover the need of craft sector in context with current trade and industry. The courses offered find application in variety of materials like textile, leather, paper, wood, metal, stone, ceramic, glass and in many end products like furniture, garments, home furnishing and home décor products which are relevant for both domestic market and exports.
