Port Blair, June 26: A public interface meeting was held by senior Police officers with PRI members and citizens of Havelock on Tuesday (24/06/14) at PS Havelock. The SP (District) South Andaman, Mr. Chinmoy Biswal along with the Commandant IRBn, Mr.Atul Kumar Thakur interacted with the members and ex-members on issues of importance for the police and the public for better service delivery.
The need to keep the roads of Havelock congestion free and development of new parking places for vehicles near the jetty, Radha Nagar beach and market area was discussed. Safety aspects at Radha Nagar and Elephant beach, frequented by the visiting tourists also figured prominently in the discussion.
The SP(D)SA sought the cooperation of public representatives in creating more traffic and road safety awareness among the Havelock residents. The Station House Officer was directed to conduct sensitization meetings with the two-wheeler operators, among others, in this regard.
The prominent citizens also brought up issues of adequate seats in the ferry boats for residents, cargo boat facility, mobile network connectivity etc. These are being forwarded to the concerned departments for necessary action. Altogether 20 PRI members and ex-members took part in this interaction.
