Port Blair, June 22: The Secretary (IP), Mr. S.N. Misra yesterday visited Govt. Press, which houses the offices of The Daily Telegrams and Dweep Samachar and took stock of the problems and needs of the workers and other staff. The Secretary was briefed about the functioning of these organizations by the Manager, Govt. Press and the Chief Editors respectively.
Secretary to LG, Mr. Misra, who took over as the new Secretary of Information & Publicity, impressed upon the Chief Editors of DT & DS to dish out more news and articles of varied interest to the readers and bring about qualitative improvement of these two dailies.
He also stressed on the needs of enhancing the printing quality. The Secretary took round of the Press Complex and suggested to the MGP to phase out the old & obsolete machines and install the new ones gradually. He also enquired about the status of the Web Offset Machine proposed to be acquired by the Govt. Press. He asked the Unit Heads to ensure re-furbishing of the entire building at the earliest besides looking into the affair of regularly maintaining cleanliness and hygienic atmosphere of the surroundings.
