Car Nicobar, May 04: Air Marshal PK Roy, PVSM, AVSM, VM, VSM, ADC, Commander-in-Chief Andaman and Nicobar Command (CINCAN) inaugurated the newly constructed Officers’ Mess and Single Officers’ Accommodation at Air Force Station Carnic on 28 Apr 14. With this, the infrastructure at this premier air base in these islands received a great fillip. It would be recalled that the station was severely damaged in the devastating tsunami of 24 Dec 2004, and efforts have been underway ever since to restore the infrastructure.
The CINCAN, accompanied by Mrs Ranjna Roy, President Defence Wives Welfare Association, Andaman and Nicobar Command had arrived in the station earlier in the day, and were received by Air Commodore AB Gupta, Air Force Component Commander and Group Captain Sanjeev Vashishth, VM Station Commander, 37 Wing Air Force, Carnic.
CINCAN in his address appreciated the efforts put in by the station and the MES towards improving the infrastructure in the station. He commended the Air Warriors for the sincere efforts put in by 37 Wing in seamless integration of the latest state-of-the-art Mi-17 V5 helicopters and the Radar Squadron. He also acknowledged the contribution of ‘Team Carnic’ for successful fighter detachment and other operational detachments in the recent past.
