Port Blair, May 04: Guru Shishya Parampra Scheme of the Ministry of Culture, Govt. of India is one of the important schemes for the preservation of rich cultural tradition of the country. Under the scheme training is imparted in traditional Gurukula System for rare and vanishing art forms of classical, folk/tribal dance and music.
Under the scheme, four eminent gurus with one accompanist each and four pupils each shall be trained. During the period, gurus will be paid @ Rs.5,000/- per month, accompanist @ Rs.2,500/- per month and four trainees under each guru will be paid @ Rs.1,000/- per month. In this regard, the Director, Art & Culture invites applications from eminent gurus of Andaman and Nicobar Islands with their bio-data and art forms before 15th May 2014, a communication from the Director (Art & Culture) said.
