Port Blair, April 27: Lt. Governor held a meeting to discuss issues relating to Havelock Island. He directed that there should be a check on further increase in the vehicle population in Havelock Island. He has asked the Chief Secretary and the Deputy Commissioner to frame rules in this regard. He observed that there should be a count of the vehicles already there and, thereafter, the Administration should assess the need for any further increase. The Administration should also look into the availability of parking space for these vehicles. He also directed Chief Engineer, APWD to ensure that the renovation work of the Dolphin Resort is completed by 20th of May. Further, Deputy Commissioner (SA) has been asked to also pay attention to Havelock Island while undertaking their monsoon preparedness exercise. Special cleanliness operations should be undertaken as Havelock Island is visited by large number of tourists daily.
