Port Blair, Mar 12: The Bharat Sanchar Nigam Limited (BSNL) will soon install 40 new towers in different remote Islands of Andaman and Nicobar Chain, to strengthen its connectivity.
Talking to Andaman Sheekha the Chief General Manger of BSNL’s, A& N Telecom Circle, Mr. V K Sanjeevi, ITS said that out of these 40 new towers, one will be installed at Havelock, one at Neil Island, two at Campbell Bay, one at Hut Bay, one at Chidiyatapu and remaining towers will be installed in other areas of South, Middle and North Andaman.
“The work for installation of tower at Joginder Nagar of Campbell Bay has already been started,” Mr. Sanjeevi added. BSNL is hoping to complete the work of installation of all these towers in 10 months.
At present BSNL has 125 towers in Andaman and Nicobar Islands, out of which 85 are CDMA (WLL) towers, 31 are 3G towers.
