Port Blair, Mar 23: The Member of Parliament of Andaman andNicobar Islands, Mr. Bishnu Pada Ray today alleged that the Administration is not serious about solving the water crisis inA & N Islands.
Addressing a press conference today the MP said that the work of raising height of Dhanikari Dam has been hit by shortage of construction materials and for the lethargic attitude of Administration the NHPC is not able to manage construction materials by its own.
He said that in November 2011 the work was stopped by NHPC due to shortage of materials and after two long months the Administration has provided a quarry to NHPC to extract construction materials but sadly till now the blasting permission has not been given the NHPC, which is again causing delay.
“The Administration should have helped the NHPC in this crucial water project. But as the Administration is not serious the file movement is taking time,” the MP said.
