Port Blair, Oct 14: The Member of Parliament of Andaman and Nicobar Islands Mr. Bishnu Pada Ray has requested to the Rural Development & PRI Department to issue necessary directions to all tiers of PRIs to display crucial information in front of Panchayat office in a conspicuous place and in the work site where the work is undertaken.
The MP demanded that details of Funds released to Gram Panchayats, Panchayat Samities and Zilla Parishad vis-avis expenditure for the last five years and current year sector-wise- be displayed in front of all Panchayat office in both Hindi and English.
He said that in case of Civil Works, in the work site, details of Name of Work, Estimated cost, Agreement amount, Name of Contractor, Date of Commencement, Date of Completion, Site plan, etc. should be displayed.
In a Letter to the Secretary-Cum-Director(RD&PRI), Directorate of Rural Development and PRI, A&N Administration, he said that time and again Govt. of India has been emphasizing the need for transparency in Govt. functioning and accountability. Right to Information is one of the Prime agenda of the Govt., which focus on display of Information.
