Port Blair, Oct 10: Four Officials of PBMC have arrested yesterday evening in the purchase matter of electrical Items. The officials are Maheshwar Rao, Executive Engineer, Zakki Ahmed , Assistant Engineer, Sunder Rao, Accountant and Boby Gomez Account officer.
According to reports, an FIR 4/13 dated 09.10.13 was lodged under section 13(1) (d)/ 13 (2) of POC Act 1988, Read With Section 420/12B of IPC against them on the case of procurement of electrical items by PBMC in exorbitant rate correspondent to the annual accepted rate of 2012-13, even after acceptance rates of 2013-14, which are lesser than that of 2012.
According to reports supply orders were placed by PBMC for about Rs. 14 lakhs rupees for materials which cost only Rs. 8 lakhs as per the new rates. All these accused were produced to court today, from where they were released on bail.
