Port Blair, Mar 06: Nearly two years back Bharat Sanchar Nigam Limited (BSNL), erected a tower at Brichgunj area, near the Brichgunj Water Treatment Plant but since then there have been virtually no efforts from the side of BSNL to make the tower operational.
The photograph of the tower shows that till now only skeleton of the towers has been erected and no equipments have been placed on the top portion of the tower.
As the tower is not in operation, the mobile connectivity of the particular area remains almost paralysed. Villagers of the area depend upon the signals received from other nearby towers viz Dollygunj orMinnieBay, which are horribly weak.
When Andaman Sheekha contacted the Chief General Manger of BSNL, Mr. V K Sanjeevi, he replied that the delay is due to unavailability of certain equipments and cables.
“The equipments will be brought from Chennai soon and by this month the tower will be made operation,” the CGM assured.
