Port Blair, Mar 05: Three labourers working in a private building today suffered electrocution this morning. Out of three labourers one died on the spot while other two were admitted to hospital.
The incident occurred when all these three labourers were trying to take Steels rods for building construction to the top floor of an under-construction building, situated opposite to the Nirman Bhawan (APWD Headquarter). As the staircase was too narrow the labourers reportedly tried to pass the steel rods from balcony and while doing that the steel rods came in the contact of nearby High Tension Line (HTL), causing electrocution of the labourers.
According to reports, one of the labourers, Alex Pandiyan died on the spot. A case has been registered against the contractor and the owner of the building, it is learnt.
