Port Blair, Mar 01: The long felt need of the people of Chouldari and its adjacent areas has been fulfilled with the inauguration of the newly constructed Public Health Centre (PHC) at a function held in the PHC premises this morning. The Lt. Governor, Lt. Gen. (Retd) Bhopinder Singh, PVSM, AVSM, chief guest of the function unveiled a plaque to inaugurate the centre. The Lt. Governor planted a sapling to mark the inauguration of the Centre and also released a handbook on Leptospirosis on the occasion.
Addressing the gathering, the Lt. Governor said that the PHC, which is a long felt need of the Chouldari people will cater to the health care need of the people. It has the state-of-the-art equipment and almost all the health facilities have been made available. The Centre will be run on Public Private Partnership (PPP) mode, he said.
The Lt. Governor stated that the Administration in its endeavour has been making all efforts to provide basic needs of the people in all the islands including health and education sectors, which are the priority requirements. Medical camps of specialist services are being organised in far flung islands to attend the special health care need of the people of those areas. This Centre will provide the best health services to the people of the areas, he said and adding that improvement will also be made on getting feedback from the people and PRI members of the areas.
The Member of Parliament, Mr. Bishnu Pada Ray and the Chief Secretary, Mr. Shakti Sinha were among the other dignitaries, who graced the occasion.
