Port Blair, July 23: The Member of Parliament, Mr. Bishnu Pada Ray today demanded immediate repair and renovation of the main building of Consumers Cooperative Stores (CCS) at Aberdeen Bazaar.
In a letter addressed to the Chief Secretary of A & N Administration, the Member of Parliament said that the present CCS building situated at Aberdeen Bazaar, Port Blair is in a deteriorated condition and need immediate repairs and maintenance works.
“This building has been constructed long back say about 40 years or so and since then no major repair has been undertaken by the managing committee of CCS Ltd. Port Blair. This building is in need of urgent repairs and renovation to avoid any further damage. If any earthquake is occurred the building may damage further and may cause human casualties. It is danger to the life of the people residing in nearby area and may cause damage to the valuable stored goods. At present more than 100 staffs are working in the same building,” the MP mentioned in his letter.
The MP requested the CS to direct the concerned Authority to inspect the building through qualified Engineer so that immediate repair and renovation works may be carried out to avoid any unwanted incident in the main Bazaar area.
