Sri Vijaya Puram, October 26: The District President, BJP, South Andaman District, Mr. Jitendra Narayan, has submitted a representation to the Lt. Governor, Andaman & Nicobar Islands, and to Mr. Bishnu Pada Ray, Member of Parliament, Andaman & Nicobar Islands, regarding the acute hardship being faced by residents under the Sri Vijaya Puram Municipal Council (SVPMC).
In his letter, Mr. Jitendra Narayan stated that due to the expansion of families, many residents have constructed new houses within the same old premises or added floors to their existing houses. However, SVPMC is not sanctioning additional water tap connections for such new constructions in old premises. As a result, two to three families are forced to manage with a single water connection, leading to a severe water crisis in their daily lives.
He further said that many applications for new and additional water tap connections have been lying pending with SVPMC for a long time.
Invoking the vision of Prime Minister Mr. Narendra Modi – “Jal Hai To Kal Hai” and “Har Ghar Jal” – Mr. Jitendra Narayan has humbly requested the Lt. Governor and the Member of Parliament to intervene and issue the necessary directions to the Sri Vijaya Puram Municipal Council to continue sanctioning new water tap connections and to allow additional water tap connections for new houses built in old premises.
He said that this humane step would provide great relief to hundreds of families in South Andaman.
