Port Blair, Feb 27: Cleanliness drive initiated by Wild Orchid, Andaman Bubbles and Emerald Echo, all Havelock based resorts last month further intensified with another round of garbage cleaning conducted last week with the support of the Pradhan, Mr. Ranjan Samadar, Member of Zilla Parishad, Smt. Abla Samadar and D.F.O., Mr. B.P. Yadav under the banner of “together for Havelock.”
About 50 volunteers consisting of villagers of Havelock, employees of resorts and tourists participated in this drive conducted between Village No. 5 and Kalapather in the reserved forest area. A total of two truck loads of garbages were collected and appropriately disposed.
Together for Havelock an organization started by Mr. Benny Jacob has vowed to continue this effort on monthly basis with primary objective of ensuring that the beautiful Island remains clean but also more importantly create awareness both among the residence and visiting tourists to have better civic sense.
