Sri Vijaya Puram, Mar. 19: The Department of Environment & Forests, A&N Administration is organizing a two days Mangrove Workshop on Mar. 21& 22, 2026 at Megapod Resort, Haddo, Sri Vijaya Puram. The workshop aims at bringing together the experts, researchers, scientists, forest officials, teachers, students, public and other stakeholders to a common platform to discuss, deliberate and disseminate various aspects of recent trends in mangrove conservation and management in the country in general and A & N Islands in particular.
Eminent scientists and subject experts from mainland and the island will present different themes of the workshop followed by presentations of scientific papers by research scholars. The workshop will cover five themes related with the conservation and management of mangroves.
• Role of mangrove in coastal protection and climate change mitigation.
• Mangrove bio-diversity & associated marine life.
• Scope of eco-tourism in mangrove forests.
• Mangrove restoration techniques and best practices.
• Community participation & livelihood potentials linked to mangroves.
The workshop will commence in the Conference Hall of Megapode Resort, Haddo at 9 am on 21st March, 2026.
