Sri Vijaya Puram, Mar. 19: An awareness programme on gender discrimination & gender-based violence was organized today in the Gram Panchayat Hall, Hopetown by Mother Teresa Village organization in collaboration with Community Resource Persons (CRPs) attached to CD Block Ferrargunj. The programme form part of the nationwide Nayi Chetna 2.0 campaign initiated by the Ministry of Rural Development, Government of India. The event was attended by officials, Pradhan, Hopetown, SHG members, villagers and school students.
The campaign aims to advance the agency and rights of women and gender-diverse individuals by addressing structural barriers and ensuring a life free from fear, discrimination, and violence through a sustained life-cycle approach. The programme covered the key themes viz. NDPS (Narcotic Drugs and Psychotropic Substance), POCSO, POSH, domestic violence against women, men or children.
The resource persons from different departments conducted sessions during the programme and shared their ideas and insights on the occasion. The Pradhan, Hopetown, Smti. Rasheeda Bibi also highlighted the cause of the occasion and emphasized on women empowerment. Participants actively engaged in the discussions and clarified queries regarding complaint procedures, legal remedies, and support mechanisms.
