Sri Vijaya Puram, Mar 17: The Island Art Club, a new art and cultural organization dedicated to fostering creativity and promoting cultural activities, was formally established on March 16, 2026, in the Sri Vijaya Puram, Andaman and Nicobar Islands. The initiative brings together artists, cultural practitioners, and enthusiasts with a shared vision of encouraging artistic expression and preserving the diverse cultural heritage of the region. The founding meeting saw active participation from members of the local community who expressed strong support for creating a vibrant platform for arts and culture.
During the meeting, a governing body was elected to lead the organization. Siddhanth Rai Sharma was elected as President, with Megha Poddar and Shruti Mukharjee serving as Vice-Presidents. Prabha Sharma was appointed as General Secretary, while Jai Shankar Dayal and Sarika were elected as Joint Secretaries. Meghnath Santra assumed the role of Treasurer. In addition to the office bearers, seven executive members were also elected to assist in the functioning and growth of the organization.
The newly formed Island Art Club aims to organize exhibitions, workshops, and cultural events, while also engaging in nurture talent and promote artistic collaboration across the islands. The organization extends an open invitation to artists, students, and art lovers to become part of this collective effort to strengthen the cultural landscape of the Andaman and Nicobar Islands.
