Sri Vijaya Puram, Mar 16: Akhil Bharatiya Vanvasi Kalyan Ashram has been working for the service, organization and holistic development of the 12-crore tribal community across India for the past 73 years. In Andaman and Nicobar Islands, Vanvasi Kalyan Ashram has been working for the past four decades, which expanded among the tribal communities from the Chota Nagpur region, popularly known as the Ranchi community and some native tribal communities.
The Vanvasi Kalyan Ashram is running self-reliance activities in these islands through its various dimensions with projects and awareness programs. Vanvasi Kalyan Ashram has a Boys’ Hostel and a Girls’ Hostel where children from the Ranchi community living in remote areas stay and pursue education. In addition, there is a Dharamshala at the State Office located at Sri Vijaya Puram, which provides accommodation for the people coming from far and wide to the capital for medical treatment, commuting to the mainland, education and to achieve employment opportunities. Apart from these permanent projects, it organizes Youth Awareness Camps, Medical Camps, Legal Awareness Camps, Mahila Sammelan, Free Coaching Classes for competitive exams, Career Guidance Programs and Sports competitions to send the participants to the National level, so that the overall development of the tribal society can be achieved. For preserving the indigenous faith and traditions of the tribal communities and to move forward on the path of development, Vanvasi Kalyan Ashram has established a total of 84 different temples in the Andaman & Nicobar Islands, where major tribal festivals are being celebrated. As a result, Vanvasi Kalyan Ashram has today emerged as a largest voluntary organization. Full-time and part-time workers are carrying out the work of Kalyan Ashram with selfless and dedicated spirit.
For the past 39 years, Vanvasi Kalyan Ashram has been working for the upliftment of tribal society and the protect the indigenous faith and culture. In this serious, a “Virat Vanvasi Sammelan” is being organized for the awakening of the tribal society on 21st March, 2026, Saturday, from 3:00 PM onwards at Vivekananda Kendra Zilla Parishad School, Basantipur, Badam Nala, Middle Andaman. On this special occasion, Mr. Atul Jog, National Organising Secretary of Akhil Bharatiya Vanvasi Kalyan Ashram, will be the Main Speaker, and Param Pujneeya Swami Aseemanand Ji Maharaj will deliver the benedictory address to the gathering. The cultural program of the Vanvasi Sammelan will feature display of tribal folk dance. An Organising Committee has been formed to conduct this Vanvasi Sammelan in a grand and organized manner, which is actively engaged in welcoming and managing the participants and urges everyone to participate enthusiastically in the Vanvasi Sammelan.
