
Sri Vijaya Puram, Mar 15: Demonstrating its firm commitment to combating drug trafficking and substance abuse in the islands, the Anti-Narcotics Police Station, along with the Dog Squad Team, conducted a successful anti-narcotics operation on 13 March 2026 at VSI Airport, Lamba Line, Sri Vijaya Puram, resulting in the seizure of a significant quantity of illicit Ganja weighing 5.330 Kg and the arrest of one accused person.
Acting on specific intelligence inputs, a dedicated police team from the Anti-Narcotics Police Station, led by Inspector K. Binoj, SHO, Anti-Narcotics Police Station, carried out the operation. The team included SI Manoj Lal, ASI Sanjay Yadow, HC/Laxman Rao, HC/Tamil Selvam, HC/Ratan Das, PC/B. Santhosh Kumar, LPC/Nandita Mistry, along with the Dog Squad Team comprising PC/Santosh Kumar Yadav and a trained sniffer dog. The operation was conducted under the leadership of Mrs. Yogita Sharma, DANIPS, Dy.SP (Narcotics).
During the operation, the team intercepted Jagadish Mondal S/o Late Kalipada Mondal (53 yrs), Pvt. Worker, R/o CARI Road, Bhathu Basti, Sri Vijaya Puram, originally from West Bengal, who had arrived at Sri Vijaya Puram from Kolkata on 13.03.2026 via Air India Express. Upon checking his luggage, 5.330 Kg of Ganja was recovered, which has been concealed inside his bag. The contraband was seized and the accused was arrested on the spot after observing all codal formalities under the NDPS Act, 1985.
The raid was conducted under the supervision of Mrs. Yogita Sharma, DANIPS, Dy.SP (Narcotics) and the overall supervision of Mr. Jitendra Kumar Meena, IPS, Deputy Inspector General of Police (CID), A&N Islands.
