Sri Vijaya Puram, Mar 13: The Directorate of Disaster Management, A&N Administration in coordination with all Emergency Support Functionaries, ANC, NDRF and INCOIS is going to conduct a State Level Communication Mock Exercise on Earthquake and Tsunami across the Andaman & Nicobar Islands on 16th March 2026 from 09:30 AM to 11:30 AM.
The objective of the exercise is to test the effectiveness of the disaster communication systems, alert dissemination mechanisms, emergency siren systems, and coordination among various departments and emergency response agencies during earthquake and tsunami situations. During this Exercise, various communication modes are to be checked and no physical activities to be carried out.
As part of the mock exercise, emergency sirens will be blown at designated locations on 16th March 2026 to simulate early warning dissemination. The siren activation is only a part of the mock exercise.
The general public is hereby informed not to panic during the siren activation and mock exercise activities. All essential services and routine public services will continue as usual and will not be interrupted during the exercise.
The cooperation and support of the general public is requested to ensure the successful conduct of this communication exercise, which is aimed at strengthening disaster response mechanisms and enhancing public safety across the islands.
