
Sri Vijaya Puram, Mar 13: In a proactive effort to preserve local marine ecosystems and promote sustainable tourism, Gram Panchayat Shivapuram organized a comprehensive cleanliness drives at the Panchawati Eco-Tourism Beach and Dhanni Nallah Beache on 13.03.2026. The primary goal was to restore the pristine beauty of the coastline, manage plastic waste, and promote sustainable tourism practices among locals and visitors.
The drive was led by Mr. Venkateswar Rao, Pradhan Gram Panchayat Shivapuram, Mr. B Ashok and Mrs. Sanju Kumari Ward Members of Panchawati village and the initiative saw active participation from
Local residents, Sanitation workers (Safai Karamcharis), Officials of Forest Department and GP Office staffs.
All together the total of 38 participants actively participated and cleared the beachfront and collected 27 bags of waste approximately 100 kg of waste was collected from both locations.
The collected waste was strictly segregated into biodegradable and non-biodegradable categories (specifically plastic bottles, glass, and fishing nets, etc).
Further, the team interacted with local vendors and tourists, educating them on the hazards of single-use plastics and the importance of using designated dustbins.
The drive successfully cleared a significant stretch of the eco-tourism zone. The collected non-biodegradable waste was transported to the Solid Waste Management (SWM) Cluster for further processing and recycling.
The Beach Cleaning Drives at Panchawati Eco-Tourism and Dhanni Nallah Beach serves as a vital reminder that environmental preservation is a collective responsibility. Gram Panchayat Shivapuram remains dedicated to conducting these drives on a quarterly basis to maintain the ecological balance of the beautiful coastline.
