
Sri Vijaya Puram, Mar 11: Dr Sushant Padha, IAS, Deputy Commissioner of North and Middle Andaman District, paid a surprise visit to Mahatma Gandhi Government College (MGGC), Mayabunder on 11th March, at around 10:00 AM.
During his visit, Dr Padha met the Principal of the college, Dr R. V. R. Murthy, and held a detailed discussion on several important issues related to the overall development and improvement of the institution. The Deputy Commissioner also inspected the teaching–learning environment of the college and personally visited several classrooms.
Interacting directly with the students, Dr Padha enquired about their academic environment and listened to their grievances, if any. He also took interest in the living conditions of the hostellers and asked about the facilities available in the college hostels.
Both day scholars and hostellers openly shared their views with the Deputy Commissioner. They informed him that since taking charge, Principal Dr R. V. R. Murthy has been making sincere efforts to address long-standing issues and improve the overall functioning of the college. Students expressed their happiness and appreciation for the proactive approach of the present Principal.
After completing his inspection and interaction with students and faculty members, the Deputy Commissioner expressed his satisfaction with the initiatives taken by the principal for the betterment of the college. He also appreciated the outstanding cleanliness and well-maintained campus of the institution.
Dr Padha further informed that he would visit the college again next week to address the student community and motivate them towards building a bright career.
The students warmly appreciated and applauded the Deputy Commissioner for his surprise visit and interaction with them. The principal of the college, Dr R. V. R. Murthy, also expressed his gratitude to the Deputy Commissioner for visiting the college and encouraging the academic community.
