Managing Director of M/s MEHAIR Seaplanes Pvt. Ltd. called on Admiral D K Joshi, PVSM, AVSM, YSM, NM, VSM, (Retd.), Hon’ble Lt. Governor, A&N Islands and Vice-Chairman, Islands Development Agency today at Lok Niwas and apprised him on the progress on Seaplane operations in the Islands. The company has been awarded routes for Seaplane services across five sectors viz. Swaraj Dweep, Shaheed Dweep, Long Island, Mayabunder and Hutbay. Chartering of Seaplanes and pilot engagement are at an advanced stage. With completion of the ground work/water segment, operations in three sectors viz. Swaraj Dweep, Shaheed Dweep, Long Island connecting Sri Vijaya Puram are expected to commence soon. Hon’ble Lt. Governor urged expeditious completion of the remaining works for early operationalization of Seaplanes. Options for advanced new technology air-cushioned vehicle for sea transportation were also discussed to further enhance connectivity in the region.
