Sri Vijaya Puram, Mar 09: To honor the spirit of global womanhood and academic excellence, the P.G. The Department of Political Science at Jawaharlal Nehru Rajkeeya Mahavidyalaya (JNRM) organized a high-profile commemorative event in the Lecture Gallery on 7 March 2026.
The ceremony began at 10:00 a.m. with a warm welcome address by Ms. Raji Mathai, Assistant Professor, Department of Political Science. This was followed by a series of felicitation ceremonies where the college leadership honored the visiting dignitaries for their valuable contributions to their respective fields. Dr. R. Vidhya, Assistant Professor at Madras Christian College, delivered a compelling keynote address. As the special guest, she provided deep insights into feminism, contemporary challenges faced by women, and the importance of achieving gender equality. The audience also heard from the esteemed Guests of Honour, including Dr. Manju Nair, Associate Professor (Department of Geography), and Dr. Hema Bannerjee, Head of the Department of Economics, who shared multidisciplinary perspectives on women’s role in societal development.
Dr. Pearl Devdas, Principal of JNRM, highlighted the importance of academic environments in fostering leadership qualities among women students and empowering them to contribute meaningfully to society. The event concluded with a formal Vote of Thanks proposed by Dr. Kusum Kumari, Department of Political Science, who expressed her gratitude to the distinguished guests and appreciated the efforts of the Department of Political Science for organizing and making the celebration a resounding success.
