Sri Vijaya Puram, Mar. 9: Passengers have raised concerns over the lack of basic amenities at Veer Savarkar International Airport despite it carrying the status of an international airport.
According to travellers, some toilet blocks at the airport lack essential items such as tissue papers, causing inconvenience to passengers. In certain cases, leaking pipes have also been reported inside the restroom areas, affecting cleanliness and hygiene.
Passengers pointed out that the airport is used by a wide range of people, including domestic travellers, tourists and foreign nationals visiting the Andaman and Nicobar Islands. As the airport serves as the main gateway to the islands, the condition of its facilities plays an important role in creating the first impression for visitors.
Travellers have expressed that basic amenities such as properly maintained restrooms and availability of necessary supplies should be ensured at all times, especially at an international airport.
Passengers have urged the Airports Authority of India to look into the matter seriously and ensure proper maintenance of facilities so that the airport reflects the standards expected of an international gateway.
