Sri Vijaya Puram, Feb. 23: A Pawan Hans helicopter reportedly landed in the sea near Mayabunder while attempting to land on Tuesday. The exact circumstances surrounding the incident remain unclear, and there is no official confirmation yet on whether the helicopter was deliberately ditched into the sea (emergency landing) as a precautionary measure or if it went uncontrolled during landing.
Authorities are currently assessing the situation, and further updates are awaited.
According to preliminary reports, there were five passengers on board, including one infant and three women. One female passenger reportedly sustained a head injury during the incident. The condition of the injured passenger is not yet officially confirmed. But all are said to be safe.
Mr. Krishna Chaitanya, SDM, Mayabunder, stated that the District Administration responded within 15 minutes of the incident. He confirmed that all passengers as well as the pilot and co-pilot, were rescued safely. Police Boats and local fishermen boats played a major role in rescuing the passengers and pilots.
