
Sri Vijaya Puram, Feb 22: The Department of Animal Husbandry and Veterinary Services (AH&VS), Andaman & Nicobar Administration, under ATMA, conducted a two-day training programme on “Scientific Rearing & Management of Poultry, Duck and Value-Added Chicken” at Panchayat Hall, R K Pur, Little Andaman.
Altogether 22 women participants, from Self-Help Groups (SHGs), along with trainee students undergoing diploma courses, attended the programme. The in-charge Senior Veterinary Officer of Veterinary Hospital R K Pur, as resource person, explained in detail the importance of scientific management practices for poultry, duck, and value-added birds like quail, turkey, and guinea fowl to achieve higher production and good market value.
The training assumed significance with increasing national and international tourist arrivals in the region. Participants were distributed reading materials, inputs, and snacks, and requested to visit CLF Nanjappa Nagar Government Farm for practical demonstration of scientific farming practices. The programme concluded with a vote of thanks proposed by Ms. Promila Roy, SHG group member.
