Sri Vijaya Puram, Feb. 10: Dr. S. R. District Institute of Education and Training (DIET) is organizing a three-day FLN Mentors Training Programme for all nine Educational Zones of the A&N Islands. The programme was inaugurated yesterday at Government Senior Secondary School, Mohanpura. Scheduled from Feb. 9 to 11, the training aims to strengthen Foundational Literacy and Numeracy (FLN) practices across schools in the Islands and to equip mentors with effective, child-centred strategies for improving foundational learning outcomes.
Smti. Sangeeta Chand, Principal, State Institute of Education (SIE), Shiksha Sadan, graced the inaugural function as the chief guest. In her address, she highlighted the significance of strong foundational education in the early years of a child’s life and emphasized that a sound base in literacy and numeracy is essential for learners’ overall academic growth. During the inaugural session, the objectives and schedule of the training programme were shared with the participants. Resource persons will facilitate sessions on child-centred pedagogy, effective classroom strategies, use of teaching-learning materials, and assessment of foundational skills over the three days.
Mentors representing all nine Educational Zones are participating in the programme and are expected to prepare action plans for strengthening FLN implementation at the school and zone levels. The programme commenced with great enthusiasm and active participation from all attendees.
