Sri Vijaya Puram, Feb. 10:A one-day workshop on Financial Literacy was successfully conducted today at the CMTC building of Block Development Office, Ferrargunj, under the Andaman & Nicobar Islands Rural Livelihood Mission (ANIRLM). The programme was organised for Self-Help Group (SHG) members of the Ferrargunj Block with the objective of enhancing financial awareness and promoting safe and responsible financial practices.
Ms. Jyoti Singh, Secretary to the Financial & Tax Literacy Directorate, ICAI, Ms. Mahima, Content Writer, Financial & Tax Literacy Directorate, Chartered Accountants Shri Kuldeep Kothari and Shri Ankit Maheshwari, graced the occasion and shared their valuable knowledge and experiences during the sessions. They also imparted practical insights and addressed queries of the participants.
The sessions focused on spreading awareness among SHG members on prudent financial behaviour, including the importance of maintaining basic financial records, timely filing of Income Tax Returns (ITR), understanding taxation basics, and adopting safe digital banking practices. Participants were sensitised on the importance of verifying information before undertaking any financial transaction, avoiding sharing confidential banking details, and promptly reporting suspected frauds to banks or concerned authorities. The programme concluded with a vote of thanks delivered by the Block Development Officer, Ferrargunj, Smti. Lalita Tigga. The training was well received by the participants and is expected to contribute significantly towards financial decision-making and financial safety among SHG members of the Ferrargunj block.
