
Sri Vijaya Puram, Jan 28: A landmark initiative under Samagra Shiksha – Inclusive Education was witnessed at GPS Subashgram, Diglipur, on 28 January 2026, with the inauguration of the first-ever Language Lab for Children with Special Needs (CwSN) in the Andaman & Nicobar Islands. The programme was organized by Block Project Office of Samagra Shiksha under Inclusive Education, Diglipur, marking a significant milestone in the advancement of Inclusive Education in the region.
The programme was conducted under the able guidance and leadership of Mrs. Sulochana, Block Project Officer (BPO), Diglipur, whose vision and commitment made this pioneering initiative possible. In her inaugural address, she highlighted the objectives of Inclusive Education and emphasized the need for specialized learning resources to support the holistic development of Children with Special Needs.
The event commenced with a welcome address by Ms. Bhagyalaxmi (PST), followed by the lighting of the ceremonial lamp by the Chief Guest, Mrs. Indira Devi, Child Development Project Officer, Diglipur, symbolizing the beginning of a new chapter in inclusive learning.
Resource persons Mr. Amit Kumar Mani, BRP(Hindi), and Ms. Jayalaxmi, BRP(Science) delivered insightful presentations on the introduction and importance of the Language Lab, established under the Learning Enhancement Programme (LEP) of Samagra Shiksha. They elaborated on the role of the Language Lab as a resource and training hub for Inclusive Education, with a special focus on enhancing communication and language skills among CwSN. To further strengthen inclusive support, wheelchairs, CP wheelchairs, and LTM kits were distributed to CwSN identified through the Identification and Assessment Camp of the current academic year.
In her special address, Mrs. Indira Devi, CDPO, appreciated the initiative and stressed the importance of community participation and inter-departmental collaboration for the holistic development and empowerment of children with special needs.
The overall programme was efficiently coordinated by Mr. Manindra Mondal, Special Educator, along with the Inclusive Education team of Diglipur Zone. The programme concluded with a vote of thanks proposed by Ms. Bhagyalaxmi (PST).
The inauguration of this Language Lab stands as a milestone achievement for Inclusive Education in Diglipur block, setting a benchmark and serving as a model for similar initiatives across the Andaman & Nicobar Islands. This pioneering effort reaffirms the commitment of Samagra Shiksha towards ensuring quality, inclusive, and accessible education for every child, especially Children with Special Needs.
