Sri Vijay Puram, Jan 25: Mr. Vishnu Ragasumum, son of Dr. T.K. Jijith Rekh, Chief Spokesperson of the Bharatiya Janata Party, Andaman & Nicobar Islands, and Mrs. Mamta Jijith, Deputy Chief Engineer, ALHW, is a freelance content creator and drone pilot who has been consistently using digital media to highlight social, environmental, and civic issues affecting the islands. Through compelling visual storytelling and the responsible use of drone technology, he brings attention to ground realities that often go unnoticed.
Recently, a reel created by Mr. Vishnu went viral, drawing national attention to the alarming issue of marine pollution on Andaman beaches. The video documents large quantities of plastic waste washed ashore, including items bearing labels from Thailand, Myanmar, and Malaysia, highlighting the transboundary nature of ocean pollution. The reel sparked widespread public outrage and concern, leading to discussions across social media platforms and national news outlets.
The video was later picked up by mainstream media, including MSN, amplifying the message that marine pollution is a global challenge requiring collective responsibility and international cooperation. In addition to his creative and advocacy work, Mr. Vishnu is also actively involved in managing his family’s agro-tourism hotel, Junglee Mirchi, which promotes sustainable tourism and eco-friendly practices in the Andaman & Nicobar Islands.
