Sri Vijaya Puram, Jan 18: The team of Police Station Hutbay has once again proved its mettle in the ongoing war against Narcotic Drugs and Psychotropic Substances resulting recovery of 6.979 Kgs crystalline methamphetamine.
On 16/01/2026, acting on credible information received by Inspector Pritam Behari, SHO, Police Station Hutbay regarding suspicious green-coloured packets suspected to contain narcotic substances concealed inside the jungle area of Dugong Creek near Pagla Mundi, immediate action was initiated.
The Police raiding team comprising of Inspector Pritam Behari, SHO, Police Station Hutbay along with HCs Victor Dung Dung, P. Mustafa, R. Ramesh Kumar, PCs M. Sudarsana Rao, Kuldeep Kumar, Mohd. Ayub, K. Naresh, Rakesh, Rama Rao, HGVs G. Shanti Krishna, Polliah, Raja, Jhaj and SI/HRO Suman Rajbansi along with the BDO, Little Andaman was constituted. Two local PRI representatives also willingly joined the team as independent witnesses. The police team equipped with a Drug Detection Kit and an electronic weighing machine, proceeded to Dugong Creek by private dinghy and conducted a thorough jungle search.
During search, 07 Nos. suspicious packets partially buried inside the sand and covered with dry leaves near the roots of a large tree were recovered. On testing with the Drug Detection Kit, the contents were found to be positive for Methamphetamine. The recovered contraband weighed 6.979 Kgs. All legal and procedural formalities were strictly followed and the seized narcotic substances were sealed on the spot in the presence of the Executive Magistrate and independent witnesses. Accordingly, a case has been registered against unknown person and further investigation is underway to identify and apprehend those involved.
The entire operation was conducted under the leadership of Inspector. Pritam Behari, SHO PS Hutbay under the command of Mr. Aditya Kumar, DANIPS, SDPO Swaraj Dweep and overall supervision of Mr. Manoj Kumar Meena, IPS, Deputy Inspector of Police, South Andaman District.
