Sri Vijaya Puram, Jan. 12: National Council Member and former State President of the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP), Mr. Ajay Bairagi, has forwarded the grievances of Vocational Teachers working under the Directorate of Education, Andaman and Nicobar Administration, to the Chief Secretary for necessary action.
In a letter addressed to the Chief Secretary, A & N Administration, Mr. Bairagi stated that a group of Vocational Teachers engaged under the Samagra Shiksha Abhiyan had approached him highlighting issues related to discrimination and service-related challenges. The teachers, who are posted across various islands, reportedly face difficulties despite performing duties similar to other categories of teachers.
Mr. Bairagi noted that the representation submitted by the teachers was clear and self-explanatory, outlining disparities in salary structure and benefits when compared to other teachers employed under the Directorate of Education. He emphasized that the Vocational Teachers are seeking parity in salary increments and ratios that are already applicable to other teaching categories.
Urging the administration to take a sympathetic view of the matter, Mr. Bairagi requested the Chief Secretary to look into the grievances and issue appropriate directions to the concerned authorities. He further appealed for an early resolution of the issues so that the long-standing concerns of the teachers could be addressed at the earliest.
