Port Blair, Feb 21: Mr. Kuldeep Rai Sharma, President, Forest Labour Union, Chatham accompanied with other office bearers of the Union held a meeting with the Deputy Conservator of Forest, Mill Division, Chatham on 21.02.2012 to discuss and find out early settlement of various grievances of the workmen particularly related to restoration of Risk Allowance and payment of Night Duty Allowance at double the rate with effect from 01.04.2009, regularization of the services of Daily Rated Mazdoors working since fifteen years. Also discussed during the meeting was the modernization plan of Chatham Saw Mill, running of Mill in three shifts, replacement of old and defective trolleys etc.
The Deputy Conservator of Forest assured to attend and resolve the grievances of employees at the earliest. He also informed that the department has plans for modernization for Chatham Saw Mill for which consultant have been appointed.
