Sri Vijayapuram, Sept 12: Commissioner of Police Satish Golcha on Thursday unveiled the official emblem of the Delhi Police’s elite Dog Squad (K-9 unit), now formally named Shwan Dasta.
The launch marks another milestone for Mr. Jag Jeevan Ram, a distinguished designer from the Andaman & Nicobar Islands, whose creative genius is now nationally recognized.
Mr. Jag Jeevan Ram’s design for the Dog Squad insignia is the latest in a series of emblematic achievements that have elevated the visual identity of India’s law enforcement institutions.
In a rare distinction, Mr. Ram has designed official police insignias for three Union Territories—Andaman & Nicobar Islands, Dadra & Nagar Haveli and Daman & Diu, and most recently Puducherry. Within the Delhi Police, he has previously designed insignias for the Bomb Disposal Squad and the Fingerprint Bureau, both of which earned him a formal letter of appreciation from the Police Commissioner for their clarity, symbolism, and institutional depth.
His emblematic work extends beyond policing. In November 2024, he designed the official emblem of the Andaman & Nicobar Administration, unveiled by Lt. Governor Admiral D. K. Joshi (Retd.). This emblem showcases the Cellular Jail, mangroves, the Dugong, Narcondam Hornbill, Veer Savarkar International Airport Terminal, the upcoming Great Nicobar container terminal, and the Azad Hind Fauz Setu—blending the islands’ natural heritage with their modern aspirations.
Mr. Ram, who professionally serves as an Administrative Officer at ICMR–Regional Medical Research Centre in Sri Vijayapuram, has voluntarily contributed his design expertise to various government departments and national projects. His portfolio includes logos for ministries, military commands, and even the commemorative ₹75 coin issued to mark 75 years of Netaji Subhas Chandra Bose’s tricolour hoisting in Port Blair.
From police insignias to administrative emblems, every creation by Mr. Jag Jeevan Ram reflects a unique storytelling ability—one that weaves together history, ecology, culture, and governance. As his designs continue to shape India’s institutional identity, he stands tall as a proud Ambassador of the Andaman & Nicobar Islands, leaving a lasting mark on the nation’s visual legacy.
