Sri Vijaya Puram, Aug 31: As part of the TB Mukt Bharat Abhiyan, the District TB Centre, Dr. R.P. Hospital, Mayabunder organized a Nikshay Shivir at Sub-Centre, Webi and District Correctional Home, N&MA Mayabunder, focusing on the vulnerable population of the remote area. The programme was conducted in the presence of the District TB Officer, North & Middle Andaman.
During the event, Mr. Madhava Rao, District Programme Coordinator (N&MA), created awareness about Tuberculosis, its symptoms, Nikshay Poshan Yojana, Nikshay Mitra, and highlighted the importance of early detection, timely treatment, and preventive measures. Additionally, Mr. Sushanth Golder, HIV Counsellor, spoke on HIV awareness, stressing the need for prevention, testing, and treatment. This was followed by the screening of participants by Dr. Christina Rossity, DTO, and Dr. Priyanka Iqbal, MO (Ayurveda), along with the medical team.
A total of 35 individuals participated at both locations, of which 30 were identified as asymptomatic vulnerable persons. Further, 30 individuals were referred to Dr. R.P. Hospital for X-ray and sputum examination.
