
Sri Vijaya Puram, Aug 29: The Composite Regional Centre (CRC), A & N Islands, in association with PUNKH NGO, organized a half-day programme to commemorate National Sports Day cum Ganesha Chathurthi at Chinmaya Mission today at 9.00 AM.
The programme was inaugurated by the Chief Guest, Mrs. Pallavi Sarkar, IAS, Secretary (Agriculture). In her address, she lauded the efforts of CRC and PUNKH NGO in creating inclusive platforms that encourage Divyangjan to showcase their talent and abilities in the field of sports and art.
A total of 60 participants, including Divyangjan and their parents, actively took part in the celebrations. The highlights of the event included adaptive sports activities and a drawing competition, where children displayed their skills with enthusiasm and confidence. The winners in both sports and drawing competitions were felicitated with prizes during the valedictory session.
The event was graced by Mrs. Sumithamol, Director, CRC, along with staff members of CRC, who accompanied and encouraged the children throughout the programme.
A special word of appreciation was extended to Mrs. Komal Anand, Founder of PUNKH NGO, for her dedicated efforts and continued support in empowering Divyangjan. Speaking on the occasion, Mrs. Komal Anand said, “We at PUNKH strongly believe that sports and art are powerful mediums to bring confidence, joy and inclusion among Divyangjan. It is an honour to collaborate with CRC for this noble cause.”
As a noble gesture of community support, Mahatma Gandhi International School provided transportation facilities for the children and their parents to commute from CRC to the venue and back.
CRC also expressed deep gratitude to Swami Suddhananda Saraswati, Resident Acharya, Chinmaya Mission, Sri Vijaya Puram, for extending wholehearted support in hosting the programme at the Mission premises and for his blessings that added grace and inspiration to the event.
The celebration of National Sports Day 2025 at CRC, A & N Islands was befittingly marked with joy, inclusivity, and encouragement, reflecting the true spirit of sportsmanship and empowerment of Divyangjan.
