Port Blair, Feb 19: The year long Campaign on Environment launched by the students of the Govt.GSSS.Girls, concluded yesterday, with a workshop. The students took part actively in the workshop. The questions raised by them shows their concern for the Environment. The Resource Persons Mr. Rishikesh Sinha and Shri Chanchal Sinha Roy explained them the various activities they can undertake to generate awareness among the masses. Later in the Valedictory function The Guest of honour Smti Anand Kumari Singh, Principal Govt. SSS.Ferrargunj, appreciated the teachers and students for their efforts. She said that it is the duty of every citizen to contribute, in saving the Nature and Environment.
The Principal of the Institution Dr. Suman Devi called upon the students to be active in the Society as well, to educate the people to come forward, to protect the environment. The Campaign Co-coordinator Mrs Stephnie Pius explained the various activities the students had undertaken in the session. She told that the school had conducted Cleanliness drives, several competitions and workshops. Around 200 students of the Senior classes attended the Valedictory function.
The campaign was launched under the National Environment Awareness Programme of the Ministry of Forest and Environment.
