Sri Vijaya Puram, July 02: The South Andaman Forest Division launched the month-long celebration of 76th Vanamahotsava with an awareness rally followed by the inauguration of a community football tournament at Wimberly Gunj mini stadium ground.
The rally was flagged off by Mr. Ashwin J Parihar, IFS, DFO (South Andaman) at 7.00 A.M from DFO(SA)’s office, Wimberly Gunj. The rally witnessed enthusiastic participation from the staff & workers of South Andaman Division. The participants marched through the Wimberly Gunj Bazaar, displaying placards, banners with environment related themes & messages and raising slogans aimed at promoting Forest Conservation & environment protection. The rally culminated at mini stadium, Wimberly Gunj. Addressing the gathering, Mr. Ashwin J Parihar, IFS, DFO(SA) emphasized the significance of Vanamahotsava to the participants and urged the participants to spread the message of the importance of the occasion. Mr. Ravi Kant, IFS, also spoke on the occasion encouraging active participation in the tree plantation drives all through the month. Mr. R. S. Sharath, ACF motivated the participants to plant trees with a vision of achieving a cleaner and greener environment for future generations.
Following the rally, the Vanmahotsava celebrations were officially inaugurated with the launch of the football tournament at Wimberly Gunj ground. The event was declared open in the presence of forest officials and community representatives, symbolizing unity and collective action toward environmental protection.
The South Andaman Forest Division remains committed to environmental conservation and urges all citizens to partake in the Vanmahotsava celebrations by engaging in tree plantation and awareness activities.
