Sri Vijaya Puram, May 5:The District Legal Services Authority, Andaman & Nicobar Islands organized a Legal Awareness Camp on May 3, 2025 at Wandoor village, South Andaman, which witnessed enthusiastic participation from the local villagers.
The central theme of the camp was ‘Suicide – Prevention, Awareness & Legal Implications’. The session aimed to sensitize the community about the psychological, social, and legal aspects surrounding suicide. Shri Sudhir Kumar, The Hon’ble District & Sessions Judge-cum-Chairman, DLSA, Andaman & Nicobar Islands, in his address, emphasized that suicide is preventable, and timely intervention, community support, and awareness about mental health can save lives. He urged the public to speak up, support each other, and seek professional help when needed.
The Hon’ble Chairman also highlighted the role of Legal Services Authorities in extending support to vulnerable individuals, providing free legal aid, and implementing welfare schemes aimed at the mental well-being and legal protection of citizens.
The event was graced by Shri Subramani, SHO, Humfrygunj Police Station and Shri Adhir Das, Gram Pradhan, Wandoor, who also addressed the gathering and encouraged villagers to stay connected and informed about available support mechanisms.
Other legal topics relevant to the local community were also discussed during the session.
