Sri Vijaya Puram, Apr. 24: In a swift breakthrough, the Andaman & Nicobar Police successfully solved the gruesome murder case of Mr. Kishor Heera within 10 hours of the discovery of his headless body in Krishna Nagar village of Swaraj Dweep on April 22.
The chilling incident came to light early in the morning when local villagers, along with the Pradhan of Shyam Nagar, discovered the headless body near the forested edge of the Krishna Nagar area. Mr. Heera had been missing since April 21 2025. The police were immediately informed, and preliminary investigations identified the victim as Mr. Kishor Heera, a resident of the village, who originally hailed from 24 Paragana District of West Bengal.
According to officials, crucial leads came from a PRI member and local residents who recalled seeing Kishor last with his childhood friend, Mr. Sanjeevan Roy—a native of 24 Paragana, who had recently arrived in Swaraj Dweep. CCTV footage near a local shop, also confirmed the victim heading towards the jungle area and not returning.
Upon interrogation, Mr. Sanjeevan Roy reportedly confessed to the murder. As per sources, the motive behind the crime was linked to an extramarital affair. The accused had been involved in a relationship with Mr. Heera’s wife, who had recently come to the island from the mainland. This entangled relationship led to a deadly confrontation that ended with the brutal murder.
Sources have credited the villagers and the local leadership for their vital cooperation. It was the alertness and involvement of Krishna Nagar villagers and the Pradhan of Shyam Nagar that enabled such a quick resolution, it is learnt.
The accused has been arrested and remanded to judicial custody, while further investigation is underway.
