Hutbay, Apr. 23:The Poshan Pakhwada Programme was successfully celebrated by the DAY-NRLM Self Help Group (SHG) members at the Community Hall in Ramkrishna Pur, Little Andaman. The event was marked by enthusiastic participation from various stakeholders and was aimed to promoting awareness about nutrition and health among the community.
Shri S. Parmanathan, Pramukh as the chief guest inaugurated the event and also addressed the gathering. Smti Seuli Mondal, Pradhan, Gram Panchayat Ramkrishna Pur was the guest of honour. Dr. Vishal Mandal, Extension Officer, along with representatives from the Health Department and ICDS, Little Andaman were also present on the occasion.
The event commenced with a prayer, followed by engaging discussions focused on gender-based issues and nutrition awareness. Special emphasis was placed on the preparation and benefits of Moringa-based and Millet-based dishes, which were the highlights of the food stalls.
The Health Department provided valuable insights into various health-related issues, while the ICDS team discussed the importance of care during the first 1000 days of a child’s life (0–2 years), emphasizing proper nutrition and health care for mothers and children.
Shri Belthazer, BDO, Little Andaman welcomed the gathering and appreciated the efforts of the SHG members for their active participation and preparation of nutritious dishes. Prizes were awarded to the best dishes based on health value and presentation.
Proposing vote of thanks, Shri Tarak Nath Barman, Cluster Coordinator, expressed gratitude to all participants and encouraged continued efforts towards better community nutrition.
