Sri Vijaya Puram, Apr. 15: An awareness programme on ‘Soil Health and distribution of Soil Health Card’ under PM- Rashtriya Krishi Vikas Yojana was organized by the Department of Agriculture under the guidance of Ms. Pallavi Sarkar, IAS, Secretary (Agri), A&N Administration on April12, 2025 at Gram Panchayat, Tushnabad, Ferrargunj Block. The programme aimed to give advisory to the farmers on nutrient status of their soil along with recommendation on appropriate dosage of nutrients to be applied for improving soil health and its fertility.
Addressing the gathering, Shri Anand Amrit Raj, Pradhan, Gram Panchayat Tushnabad, requested the farmers to use organic manures, vermi compost, farm yard manure and decomposed farm wastes for cultivation. Shri Navashakti, Assistant Director (Agri.) emphasized on the importance of soil health.
Farmers were sensitized on judicious use of nutrients for crop production and timely application of all essential plant nutrients in readily available form by Dr. Sahana Begum, Agriculture Officer, Ferrargunj, South Andaman. Importance of Farm Mechanization for crop production was briefed by Shri Santosh Kumar, in-Charge, AD (AE) FM while Smti Gayatri Singh, Agriculture Assistant, discussed about Integrated Nutrient Management in conjunction with organic manures and bio-fertilizers for improving soil health.
Later, Soil Health Cards were distributed to the farmers of Tushnabad, Hobdipur, Manpur and Collipur villages by Shri Anand Amrit Raj, Pradhan, Shri Salamat Ali, Panchayat Samiti Member, Shri Rajesh Mandal, Up-Pradhan and Shri Navashakti, Assistant Director (Agriculture).
