
Sri Vijaya Puram, Apr 11: The ongoing Free Prosthetic & Orthotic Camp at the Composite Regional Centre (CRC), Andaman & Nicobar Islands, has entered its second day with growing participation and impactful interventions. This five-day initiative, being held from 10th to 14th April 2025, is organized in collaboration with Rotary Club, Sri Vijaya Puram, Mahaveer Seva Sadan, Kolkata and Composite Regional Centre (CRC), A&N Islands
The camp aims to provide free artificial limbs, orthotic devices, and comprehensive rehabilitation services to persons with disabilities across the Islands. The team from Mahaveer Seva Sadan is ensuring immediate and on-time service, recognizing the long distances many beneficiaries have travelled. Their responsiveness has allowed for same-day assessments, casting, and corrective measures wherever possible.
Day 2 saw continued delivery of vital services, including: Postural correction and gait alignment Customized prosthetic/ orthotic fittings and Modifications for neurological and physical conditions such as foot drop, polio, muscular dystrophy, and cerebral palsy.
To facilitate participation, the Rotary Club, Sri Vijaya Puram has provided accommodation and transportation support for beneficiaries from North and Middle Andaman, ensuring that distance is not a barrier to receiving life-changing services. In total 36 Upper/ lower extremities of orthotics and prosthetics on the second day of camp.
Due to the time required for fabrication, registrations will be closed by the end of 13th April 2025. This will allow the team adequate time to complete all pending devices and perform final fittings before distribution on the 14th April 2025.
