On 09/04/2025, in a judgment, the Special Judge (POCSO) Mr. Subhajit Basu has sentenced the accused Suren Mondal in a POCSO case vide Crime No. 44/2024 of PS Kalighat to 03 years of Imprisonment along with a fine of RS.10,000/-.
This significant achievement was the result of the relentless pursuit of justice and meticulous investigation by SI Kannagi, the Investigation Officer, and SI Ashok Kumar Baghel, SHO, PS Kalighat. Their dedication, professionalism, and tireless efforts played a crucial role in securing justice for the victim and ensuring that the accused was held accountable for his crimes.
The crime involved the victim girl, a school student who was abused by the accused on the way while she was returning from her friend’s house. On 25/08/2024, upon receiving the victim’s complaint, a case was registered at PS Kalighat U/s 7/8 of POCSO Act,2012 r.w.s 75(1)(i)/126(2) BNS 2023, spearheading swift legal action against the accused.
This judgement serves as a strong and unequivocal warning that crimes against children will be met with the severest punishments under the law. The A&N Police upholds a zero-tolerance policy against such heinous offenses and remains steadfast in our commitment to ensuring the safety and security of society’s most vulnerable members.
