Sri Vijaya Puram, Mar 30: The three-day Literature Festival-Beyond Horizon: All India Writers’ Festival, organized by the Department of Art and Culture, A&N Administration in association with Sahitya Akademi, New Delhi concluded today in the auditorium of TGCE. The Literature Festival undeniably provided a platform for writers, poets and literary enthusiasts from across the country and Islands to come together, exchange ideas and explore the rich tapestry of Indian literature.
The third day of the Writers’ Festival, which was meticulously structured into two sessions, witnessed good response from literature lovers. The final session of the festival titled the composite session of ‘Poetry and Storytelling – Voices of the Archipelago’ was chaired by Mr. Keshav Chandra, IAS. In his introductory remarks, Mr. Keshav Chandra expressed his happiness on the conduct of the Literature Festival in A&N Islands and underlined the need to continue this initiative to instill love & aptitude for literature among the younger generation. He also recited his self-composed poems on the occasion.
During this session, the Chief Secretary, A&N Administration, Dr. Chandra Bhushan Kumar, IAS, the Commissioner, Art & Culture, Mr. ASPS Raviprakash, IAS, Deputy Commissioner, South Andaman, Mr. Arjun Sharma, IAS, Secretary, Art & Culture, Ms. Jyoti Kumari, IAS, SDM, Mr. Vinayak Chamadia, IAS, Director of Art & Culture, Ms. Priyanka Kumari, DANICS and Mrs. Kanak Radha Chatterjee, Chief Editor, Daily Telegrams presented their self-composed poems on different facets of life and also poems glorifying the enchanting beauty & tourist spots of A&N Islands. The dignitaries also presented prizes to the winners and runners for the Essay writing/poem reciting competitions organized among school and college students as part of the 3-days Literature Festival.
Earlier, the first session on the topic ‘Mini India: Weaving Stories of Unity in Diversity’ was chaired by Dr. Rashida Iqbal. Dr. Ch. Hemant Rao (Telugu), Mr. R. Gopalan (Tamil), Dr. Manju Nair, Professor, JNRM, Dr. Swapan Kumar Biswas, JNRM, Ms. Kalyani Halder, Teacher, Mr. Krishna Kumar Vishwendra, Mr. Basu Kumar, Dr. Ram Kripal Tiwari poets/speakers shared their self-composed poems offering a glimpse into their inner thoughts, emotions and reflections on society. The poets through their compositions provided an insight on the history of A&N Islands, role of A&N Islands in our country’s freedom struggle and unity amidst diversity making these Islands a ‘Mini India’.
