
Sri Vijaya Puram, Mar 30: The District Administration, South Andaman in its continuous efforts to preserve community spaces and to ensure lawful use of public property has been keeping strict vigil and monitoring and government land is being restored back from encroachment by unscrupulous elements in past few days in South Andaman District.
A major eviction drive was carried out today on March 29, 2025 at Bedonabad village and Calicut village. The Revenue officials with crucial support from the Police Department and APWD staff, removed encroachments which included fencing, coconut plantations, and five unauthorized structures (two semi-pucca and three temporary buildings). The demolition was executed with the assistance of excavators and laborers. An area measuring approximately 61,110 Square Meter of Government Revenue Land restored to its original shape by the District Revenue authorities. To prevent further encroachments, official signboards of the Revenue Department were installed at the site, serving as a strict warning to potential trespassers.
Additionally, in Radhanagar, Swaraj Dweep Encroachment in the form of a Temporary unauthorized structure on government revenue land has been successfully evicted by the revenue officials. And an area of 300 Square Meter of Revenue land has been restored to Government Khaata.
Simultaneously, Encroachment on set apart land at Dhanikhari village was removed and cleared for public use and commuter access, with the support of the APWD and Police Department.
Residents are strongly urged to refrain from unauthorized occupations, as stringent legal action will be taken against violators. To strengthen public participation in this initiative, the District Administration, South Andaman has provided multiple avenues for reporting encroachments or illegal constructions.
